About Us
Little Debbie is a non-commercial effort to introduce the clean, quiet boating revolution.
The 1960 Glastron FireFLITE is a family heirloom that sat rotting in a driveway for 15 years. James and Belinda completed a full restoration that included the floor, transom, finish, instruments, motor controls, and windshield, which were all in poor condition.
The lake where the Black family lives prohibits gas motors, so they converted a 1957 Johnson Javelin outboard motor to electric using a readily available 48 VDC PM motor.
A second, much more sophisticated electric conversion took two years to design, build and refine. The second version features a highly-efficient, 32.6 kW (45.7 HP) AC motor. The principal design goals were to completely hide the electric conversion and to demonstrate that any boat can be seamlessly converted to 100% Electric.
Little Debbie will run continuously for an hour at 18mph, has a top speed of 26mph, and can go 25 miles at 8 mph. Charging is done at 120 or 240volts and is usually accomplished overnight; faster charging is selectable when needed.
